Went for a little ride around the North Downs, Surrey, England, UK, The World. ( Need to get rid of the, er, extra me I’ve built up whilst working from home the last 3 years.) Anyway, t he RAC 1000 Mile Trial is on
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
...s o I k ept getting passed by some very nice pre-War vehicles, u nfortunately, never at a point where I could stop to get photos. ( There was a nice Bentley Speed Six #8)
So, riding through the back lanes, came across this :
A Rectrans Discoverer 25r
I’d hate to meet it coming the other way. The “road” that it’s parked off of is very narrow, perhaps 12 feet on it’s widest section , and this is just on a tight zig-zag. It’s certainly, shall we say “characterful”?
After struggling up Box Hill, a not-very-big climb, 1.5 mins slower than I used to, t here were three adjusted Minis near the top. Not much of a chance to stop, so snatched three quick snaps.
On the return leg, passed a dealership... oh, they used to do... er... Kia... I think... it’s been a while . Someone’s taken over the space. Autoficcina ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) They have some nice vehicles. Could’ve taken a few shots, but I needed to press on . I’ll do them another time.
Do you remember that bit about me being older and needing to get fit again? Well, nearer home, everything started to catch up with me. 31 º C/87.8ºF is a little too warm when you’re 52 and carrying 12kg more than you used to. That extra fat makes for a nice insulating layer, great when it’s cold, not so good when you’re trying to shed heat in the summer. Sloooowing down, meant I had the perfect excuse to stop when I saw this Daimler SP250 Dart
As the summer progresses, there will be more, no doubt. Concourse of Elegance at the end of August. Wooh!
